The Best Wetsuits for Wing Foiling | Poole Harbour Watersports

Wing foiling is exhilarating, but nothing kills the thrill faster than being cold or restricted by the wrong wetsuit.
When you're out wing foiling, the right wetsuit can make all the difference. It’s not just about staying warm—it’s about staying safe and being able to move freely so you can perform at your best. A good wetsuit keeps you comfortable, protects you from the elements, and lets you focus on enjoying the ride.
In this blog, we’ll help you figure out how to pick the perfect wetsuit for wing foiling. You should look for one that will be good at keeping you warm, allows you to move easily, durable for those rougher sessions and good value for your money. Wetsuits are fantastic for watersports as they are flexible, waterproof and keep you warm in cold waters, yet do not lose their shape and remain durable for years if kept in a good condition! In recent years, we also have new introduction of technology to wetsuits, traditional neoprene materials are being replaced more and more for sustainable and eco-friendly options to help with the environmental impacts from neoprene.
Here are a few of our top choices for avid foilers (male version):
Prolimit Slider 5/4mm Natureprene Wetsuit
This is our top choice for those after a suit specifically for foiling. This is due to it being designed with extra features that help when out foiling and protect you a little further than your standard surf suit.
Features for foiling:
Protects you where the impact vest cannot.
- Padded right shoulder pad for carrying the board and foil out and into the water and not putting too much pressure on shoulder. Particularly seen as an issue when boards do not have handles such as mid-length and downwind board.
- Extra padding on the knees and shins. This not only adds more comfort to your knees when kneeling on the board, which can be frequent when learning or on smaller kit, but also adds extra support against any contact you may get with the foil and should minimise any cuts or bruising if you hit the foil.
- The same for the arms, the forearms have more padding for any collision with the foil to prevent cuts and bruising.
- Thick and warm for those colder sessions and cooling down from the wind.
C-Skins ReWired 5.4 NuWave Wetsuit
/ C-Skins ReWired 5.4 Wetsuit (neoprene style)
Another great suit for wing foiling that is stretchy (particuarly on the upper body), warm and thick for durability too. This is our favourite suit out of the C-Skins range, it is very comfortable and performs great throughout winter. For 2025, the NuWave range is the all-new sustainable, environmentally-friendly suit that uses recycled materials. The neoprene option is still in the range on sale until they sell-through for the more sustainable option, so check out both and you can always come and try both on in-store!
Key features to benefit when wing foiling:
- 5mm thickness for warmth in winter sessions
- Chest zip for extra stretch and movement along shoulders and back
- Halo X knit on shoulders for softer, stretchier neoprene/ natural rubber to enhance flexiilty and movement
- Thermal linings for added warmth and decrease wind chill
- Padded knee pads for getting up onto board and kneeling
O'Neill Hyperfreak Fire 5/4+ Wetsuit
Another excellent wetsuit and a keen favourite choice for wing foilers who come in our shop for a winter wetsuit. The technobutter across the whole body of this suit (O'Neill's super stretchy neoprene material) means that this is super comfortable to get on and doesn't restrict mobility in any way when on the water. With taped seams on the inside and welded seams on outer, this is an ultra warm suit so that no water can get in apart from the neck, ankle and wrist seals. Stay warm for hours in those winter warmers and enjoy your foiling session to the max.
Key features to benefit when wing foiling:
- 5mm thickness, with taped and welded seams for ultimate warmth
- Chest zip for extra stretch and movement along shoulders and back
- Technobutter 4X for ultimate mobility and stretch through the suit
- Knee pads for comfort when kneeling
- Firewall lining inside suit for added warmth and reduce effects of wind chill
Picking the right wetsuit for wing foiling is super important to make sure you stay comfortable, warm, and safe while you’re out on the water. By thinking about things like how stretchy the material is, how long it’ll last, and whether it fits your budget, you can find one that works perfectly for your needs.
A good wetsuit will help you stay focused on having fun, whether you’re cruising through calm waters or taking on bigger waves. Take the time to choose wisely, and you’ll have a wetsuit you can count on for all your wing foiling adventures!
