WING INTRO LESSON
In this 2-hour lesson you will get to grips with the handling and steering of the wing on a SUP/windsurf board. Learn about the shape of the wing, how to hold and carry the wing through the wind and when / where to put your hands. As you move through the two hours, you will progress from kneeling on a board, to hopefully standing and moving across the wind.
In a 2-hour session we also hope to cover static turns with the wing on a board so you can move up and down the water.
No previous wingsurfing or watersports expereince required for this lesson, but if you do have any previous wind sport experience, you will find it easier as you have a base knowledge of the wind and how to steer a sail.
Conditions suitable for this session are light to moderate winds up to 22knots, preferrably an on-shore wind direction. If the session you book is not within these parameters, we will call you to rebook so we can make the most of your time!
1:1 and group lessons are available.
The session is generally run in a group setting, with a standard of 4 people, however depending on the day this could be less. The maximum in one group would be 6, to book 6, please get in contact with us prior to check on availability.
We also offer a private 1:1 option for the wing intro, in which you can get a more personal and direct teaching from the instructor. We find this to be popular with those that have some previous water sport experience as they wish to skip over some of the beginner aspects that they know from other sports.
To progress to the next stage of learning to wing, our Wing Foil lesson, you would need to be competent standing on the board with the wing, and sailing across the wind with some speed. Both these aspects are essential for trying to get up on the foil, so you cannot move onto the next stage otherwise. In general, we find it can take 2-8 hours to be competent with the wing depending on the invdividual.
